Atualmente já é comprovada a existência de uma ligação entre a atividade turística e a Educação Ambiental, porém a mesma é ainda bastante contestada e tem seu caminho muito pouco explorado. Diante disso, o presente artigo tem como objetivo, através de uma discussão aprofundada desta temática, a elucidação de que o Turismo pode sim ser um meio efetivo de educar ambientalmente a população e, ao mesmo tempo, fazer uso das ferramentas da Educação Ambiental em seu próprio benefício. Em um primeiro momento foi feito separadamente um estudo a respeito dos assuntos principais: Turismo e Educação Ambiental; para finalmente discorrer-se a respeito da relação existente entre ambas as áreas.
Nowadays an association between Tourism and Environmental Education is proved, but it is still questioned and its path is too little explored. Therefore, this article’s goal is, through a deep discussion about this theme, to elucidate that Tourism can surely be an effective way to educate the population about the environment and, at the same time, make use of the Environmental Education tools for its own benefit. At first a separate study about the main subjects, Tourism and Environmental Education, was made; and then we finally discussed about the relation between both areas.
