Resumo Inglês:

In recent decades the geomorphological mapping incorporated intheir methodology, a significant number of computational techniquesassociated with modern Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and, nowusing data from sensors, allowing the preparation of Digital Elevation Model- DEM, providing tools for a more detailed units of relief. This study useof radar data SRTM in the preparation of detailed geomorphologicalmapping of the region of Petrolândia in the state of Pernambuco, NortheastBrazil. With an aim to combine their traditional mapping techniques, modern tools of GIS for the representation of landforms in semi-aridnortheast, still in need of more detailed studies. The modeling of radardata (MNT), combined with the traditional techniques of geomorphologicalmapping enabled the representation and subsequent description of the formsof relief. Producing a geomorphological map at a scale of 1:100,000, inaccordance with the recommendations of the International GeographicalUnion (IGU). It was observed that the traditional techniques of mapping, have been useful for the preparation of this study, giving support to theinterpretation of the products arising from the GIS. The association oftraditional techniques with modern computational tools represents abreakthrough for geomorphological mapping.
