The text try to present a series of empirical registers (notations of field, interviews, questionnaires and photographs) gotten during the visits to a devoid community of Porto Alegre-RS. We expected that the collected materials contemplated the debate on the national identity, on our sincretic cultural ways and, especially, on the reception of the V Centenário constructed by the media.
