Utilizando como fundamentação teórica, conceitos da semiótica formulada por Charles
Sanders Peirce, este artigo analisa as cédulas de papel moeda criadas pelo Plano Real no Brasil. O
texto começa situando o leitor no universo da semiótica, em seguida, contextualiza o papel moeda
implantado no regime cambial brasileiro, para depois se dedicar à análise das cédulas de Real. Um
exemplo de semiose finaliza a interpretação do signo em questão.

Using as theoretical concepts of semiotics formulated by Charles Sanders Peirce, this
article analyzes the ballot paper currency created by the Plano Real in Brazil. The text begins by
placing the reader in the world of semiotics, then contextualizes the role of currency exchange rate
regime implemented in Brazil, and after to engage in the analysis of Real ballots. An example of
semiosis ends the interpretation of the sign in the question.
