Este texto tem por finalidade trazer aspectos sobre o desenvolvimento do capitalismo dependente brasileiro auxiliado pelos estudos de alguns intelectuais da Teoria Marxista da Dependência que podem contribuir/subsidiar a interpretação da particularidade da questão social no Brasil e seus desdobramentos no trabalho da/o Assistente Social em seu desenvolvimento histórico. Utiliza-se como metodologia a revisão de bibliografia que debate a Teoria Marxista da Dependência, especialmente Ruy Mauro Marini, Theotonio dos Santos e Jaime Osorio; autores que não necessariamente vinculados a esta corrente teórica, mas que discutem o caráter da dependência doBrasil como Heleith Saffioti e Florestan Fernandes e referências do Serviço Social. Tem-se, pois, como resultado que as relações sociais dependentes destacam um papel subalterno do Brasil na divisão internacional do trabalho e com uma particularidade no que se refere ao modo de extração de mais-valia: a superexploração do trabalho. Esses fatores interferem nas configurações que o Serviço Social brasileiro assume ao longo de seus oitenta e cinco anos, sobretudo na conjuntura atual, sendo necessário afirmar o seu caráter crítico e de defesa do projeto ético-político diante desse cenário.

This text aims to bring aspects about the development of Brazilian dependent capitalism aided by the studies of some intellectuals of the Marxist Theory of Dependence that can contribute/subsidize the interpretation of the particularity of the social issue in Brazil and its consequences in the work of the Social Worker in its historical development. The methodology is the review of bibliography that discusses the Marxist Theory of Dependence, especially Ruy Mauro Marini, Theotonio dos Santos and Jaime Osorio, authors who are not necessarily linked to this theoretical current, but who discuss thecharacter of dependence on Brazil such as Heleith Saffioti and Florestan Fernandes and references from Social Service. It has, therefore, thus that dependent social relations highlight a subordinate role of Brazil in the international division of labor and with a particularity regarding the mode of extraction of added value: the overexploitation of labor. These factors interfere with the configurations that the Brazilian Social Service assumes during its eighty-five years, especially in the current conjuncture, and it is necessary to affirm its critical and defense character of the ethical-political project in this scenario.Keywords: Dependent Capitalism.
