A QUESTÃO DO VALOR NA LINGUAGEM PARA (O CÍRCULO DE) BAKHTIN

Apresento uma síntese do estudo que teve por objetivo investigar o estatuto do valor
(axiologia) na concepção de linguagem dentro do pensamento do Círculo de Bakhtin.
Justificou este trabalho a possibilidade de contribuir no preenchimento da lacuna nos estudos
bakhtinianos publicados no Brasil. Caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa teórica inicialmente
bibliográfica, entretanto ressignificada à luz do arcabouço epistemológico também
bakhtiniano. Selecionada uma parcela das obras do Círculo1, dois foram os pontos de partida:
(1) a constatação da intermitência conceitual-terminológica e (2) a dimensão axiológica como
uma das três grandes coordenadas da concepção de linguagem bakhtiniana, de acordo com
Faraco (2006a). Pontos de chegada: ratificação do valor como eixo na concepção de
linguagem e, sem a questão axiológica, o dialogismo corre o risco de ser compreendido
apenas como mais um conceito abstratizado.

Tone, intonation, emotional-volitional tone, index of social value, expressiveness,
value-based positioning, value judgment, evaluation, assessment, point of view and ideology
are all notions related to the issue of value (i.e., axiology) within the framework of ideas of
the Bakhtin Circle. Considering the studies that have been published based on the bakhtinian
thought in Brazil to date, we can say that most of them deal with those concepts in one way or
another (e.g., Faraco, Miotello, Sobral, Amorim, Souza and Tezza). Nonetheless, there is no
particular study that focuses on the relationships between the conception of language and the
questions of value. Thus, the aim of this dissertation is to find out the status of value within
the bakhtinian concept of language in some of Bakhtin‟s oeuvres. The adopted methodology
is also based on the Bakhtin‟s concept of epistemology as our approach tries to establish
dialogues between the original writings and the Brazilian authors that addressed the subject.
