A produção de conhecimento na defesa das terras indígenas: entre epistemologia, identidade e política

Esta é uma refl exão a partir de pesquisas em que se documentou
frente à justiça sobre a ocupação e o modo de tratar seus territórios
por parte de comunidades indígenas (Mapuches – Neuquén
– Argentina). Interessa-nos mostrar a articulação entre saberes indígenas
e acadêmicos e a fusão destes para servir como prova legal; a produção
desses saberes embasa-se em técnicas de mapeamento cultural.
Esta estratégia se implementou em ofi cinas e visitas com registros
audiovisuais, com o objetivo de elaborar documentos fundamentados
na compreensão, memória e comunicação com o território ocupado e
reocupado. Durante o processo de pesquisa abriram-se espaços para
apresentação e discussão do que é o conhecimento e como este pode
ser convalidado frente a justiça. Isso se refl etiu em mapas culturais
que são agora revistos para registrar novos conhecimentos sobre
estes e outros espaços territoriais. A produção conjunta de saberes
não foi isenta de difi culdades éticas e sobretudo, epistêmicas, pois o
conhecimento se produz em contextos politicamente carregados, e
a articulação entre acadêmicos e indígenas torna-se muito sensível.
Isso dá oportunidade para uma refl exão sobre interculturalidade,
interdisciplinaridade e ações interepistêmicas.

This is a refl ection based on research documented judicially
on the occupation and handling of territories belonging to indigenous
communities (Mapuches – Neuquén – Argentina). Our interest
is in showing the articulation between indigenous and academic
knowledge and its amalgam to be used as legal proof; the production
of this knowledge is based on the techniques of cultural mapping.
This strategy was set up in work-shops and trips with the making
of audiovisual recordings, with the aim of elaborating documents founded on the understanding, memory and communication with the occupied
and re-occupied territory. During the process of research, some opportunities were
given for presentations and discussions as to what knowledge is and how this can be
validated before justice. This resulted in cultural maps which are now being reviewed
to record new knowledge about these or other territorial places. The united production
of knowledge was not without ethical diffi culties and above all, epistemic diffi culties,
because knowledge is produced in politically loaded contexts and the articulation
between the researchers from the university and the indigenous peoples becomes
very sensitive. It gives the opportunity for a refl ection on intercultural studies,
interdisciplinarity and inter-epistemic actions.
