Abertura do número especial de Síntese, comemorativo do centenário do nascimento de quem foi a alma da revista durante quase três décadas, este artigo, depois de fornecer o elenco das comemorações programadas, faz, na sua primeira parte, um levantamento da avaliação da obra filosófica de Lima Vaz em textos relativos à filosofia no Brasil, verificando, em seguida, qual é efetivamente a sua presença no cenário filosófico atual. Finalmente, após projetar a problemática, que se prevê dominante no meio filosófico brasileiro ao longo do século XXI, conclui que o pensamento de nosso filósofo tem chances de permanecer vivo, iluminando tais questões e inspirando soluções.

This article introduces the special Síntese issue dedicated to the celebration of the birth centenary of Henrique Cláudio de Lima Vaz, the soul of the journal for almost three decades. After providing the program of the celebrations, it gives an overview of the assessment of his philosophical work, in texts on philosophy in Brazil. Then, it verifies the author’s effective presence in the current philosophical scene. Finally, after projecting the main questions, expected to be of interest to the Brazilian philosophical community throughout the 21st century, it concludes that Lima Vaz’s thinking is highly likely to live on, enlightening these issues and inspiring solutions.
