Apresenta-se os conceitos de Análise do Discurso baseado na escola francesa que tem como precursor Michel Pechêux, dessa maneira o referencial teórico está delimitado à tradição francesa em Análise do Discurso, baseia-se nos autores Michel Pêcheux e Eni Pulcinele Orlandi, precursora dessa linha de Análise do Discurso no Brasil. A metodologia de pesquisa utilizada foi a análise bibliográfica e documental concernente à literatura da Arquivística e da Análise do Discurso. Apresenta conceitos de “descrição arquivística” por meio de recortes textuais retirados de instrumentos de descrição e normalização arquivística, como o Manual de Arranjo e Descrição de Arquivos, escrita por S. Muller, J. A. Feith e R. Fruin e publicada em 1898, traduzida para o português brasileiro e publicada em 1973, e a Norma Internacional de Descrição Arquivística -ISAD (G) publicada em 2000 pelo Conselho Nacional de Arquivos, bem como de produções intelectuais dentre essas a obra de Georgete Medleg Rodrigues (2003) e a dissertação de Flávia Carneiro Leão (2006). Buscou inferir o sentido e a recorrência do conceito de “descrição arquivística” apresentados nos trabalhos anteriormente mencionados. O referido artigo é parte da produção da dissertação que se encontra em andamento. A partir da análise dissertativa aplicada aos recortes textuais foi possível identificar que o fator contextual é fundamental para a produção de sentido no conceito de descrição, esta afirmação se confirma pela recorrência com que o termo é apresentado. Sendo possívelconcluir que a atividade de descrição arquivística é uma atividade intelectual de pesquisa documental. O presente trabalho é importante no sentido de abrir caminhos para uma compreensão mais ampla em relação a formação e percurso de seus conceitos constituintes.

We analyze the main concepts related to Discourse Analysis and construct a theoretical background of the formation and constitution of the field. The theoretical framework is delimited by the French tradition in Discourse Analysis and, therefore, is based on the authors Michel Pêcheux and Eni Pulcinele Orlandi, precursor of Discourse Analysis The research methodology used was the bibliographical and documentary analysis concerning the literature of Archival Science and Discourse Analysis. It was analyzed the recurrence of the concept of "archival description" by means of textual cuts of important instruments of archival description and normalization, as well as of intellectual productions of the area. This work is part of the production of the dissertation that is in progress. Based on the dissertation analysis applied to the textual cuts, it was possible to identify that the contextual factor is fundamental for the production ofmeaning, in the main reason for making a description, confirmed by the recurrence with which the terms that semantically referred to it , and in the same way the repetition of this by means of paraphrase. It is possible to conclude that the activity of archival description is an intellectual activity of documentary research. The present work is important in the sense of opening the way for a broader understanding regarding the formation and course of its constituent concepts.
