Este trabalho objetiva analisar o perfil e o nÃvel de satisfação dos turistas em uma região de baixo Ãndice de Desenvolvimento Humano (IDH), o Pólo TurÃstico do Vale do Jequitinhonha, MG. A amostragem baseou-se na escolha aleatória de veÃculos de passeio nas vias de acesso ao Pólo e na identificação do motivo da viagem. Os resultados mostram que o fluxo turÃstico é de origem predominantemente microrregional, com pouco uso dos serviços de hospedagem, com exceção dos municÃpios de Diamantina e Serro, onde o turismo interestadual é intenso. Os turistas mostram-se satisfeitos com os serviços turÃsticos e públicos, o que pode ser explicado pelo baixo grau de exigência da maioria desses turistas, predominantemente de nÃveis de renda modestos. Apesar do potencial para o crescimento do turismo, a sua efetividade depende de investimentos em infra-estrutura e capacitação da população local para a recepção turÃstica, de forma a incrementar o fluxo turÃstico oriundo de outros estados e sem vÃnculos locais.
This work aims at analyzing the profile and level of satisfaction of the tourists in a low development region in Brazil - "Pólo TurÃstico do Vale do Jequitinhonha", in Minas Gerais. The sample was based in the selection of vehicles on the main roads acessing the Pole and in the identification of the motivations for traveling towards the Pole. The results show that the flow is mainly regional and the tourism services are underutilized. Only in the cities of Diamantina and Serro those services are intensive demanded.The level of satisfaction by tourists is good, which can be associated with the low level of income and information of the tourists. Despite the potential to increase the tourist flow, its effectiveness depends on high level of investments in infrastructure and in the population receiving capacity.
