Resumo Inglês:

This work has the objective of analyzing and interpreting the feelings of the Santa Maria and the topography of Santamarienses with the urban landscape of the central district of Santa Maria-RS. The interviewees were randomly invited to present their individual perceptions about the urban landscape of the neighborhood, through an interview form, with open and closed questions, composed of two parts. The most conspicuous landscape is that of Praça Saldanha Marinho, which was remembered by 45 of the 150 interviewees, followed by the landscape of Caldadão Salavero Isaia and the landscape of Itaimbé Park. Although the landscape of the Square has been voted the most pleasant of the neighborhood, it is also foilembrada as a scenario that evokes topphobic feelings for the 150 interviewees, followed by the landscape of the Boardwalk and the old Street 24 Hours. This antagonistic feeling can be understood by the fact that psychologically every person has an individual perception of the environment and its quality, because, biologically, perception is limited by anatomical and physiological conditions of man and is processed within cultural, geographical and historical values. Among the spacemarks that today emerge as symbols (icons) of the urban landscape of SantaMaria is the image of the Salvador Isaia Promenade, mentioned by 27.3% of the interviewees.
