This article uses the work of two main historical axes of the World Council of Churches (WCC) to analyze its momentum as the Council celebrates its 65th anniversary. The dimension of mission (witness) is marked by the work of the Commission for World Mission and Evangelism (CWME) and the diakonia (service) has in the ACT Alliance its most striking feature. The text still brings a brief analysis of the impact of this reality on the Orthodox participation in the WCC and the relationship with the Roman Catholic Church.
