Orientações pré-operatórias recebidas por pacientes submetidos à cirurgia oncológica

Avaliaram-se as orientações pré-operatórias recebidas por pacientes com neoplasias gástricas e esofágicas submetidos à gastrectomia e esofagectomia internados em uma Clínica Cirúrgica de um Hospital Universitário. Trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória, descritiva e de abordagem quantitativa, cuja coleta de dados ocorreu entre novembro de 2012 e janeiro de 2013 junto a oito pacientes por meio de entrevista estruturada. Para análise, os dados foram quantificados por estatística simples. Predominaram pacientes do sexo masculino(75%), casados (62,5%), com Ensino Fundamental Incompleto (37,5%) e  aposentados (37,5%). A faixa etária ficou entre 41 e 78 anos. Verificou-se que 50% dos pacientes foram submetidos à esofagectomia, 75% receberam orientações no pré-operatório e, desses, 62,5% foram orientados pelos enfermeiros. Destacaram-se os drenos, sondas e tubos (15%) como conteúdos da orientação e os bonecos (60%) como instrumentos/ recursos de orientação recordados pelos pacientes no pós-operatório. Os pacientes receberam orientações sobre suas cirurgias, recordaram as informações recebidas e os recursos utilizados no pré-operatório pelos enfermeiros. Assim, verifica-se à importância de uma orientação adequada às necessidades e questionamentos dos pacientes.

We evaluated the preoperative guidelines received by patients with gastric and esophageal neoplasms undergoing gastrectomy and esophagectomy admitted to a surgical clinic of a university hospital. This is an exploratory, descriptive and quantitative approach research, whose data were collected between November 2012 and January 2013 along with eight patients using a structured interview. For analysis, data were quantified by simple statistics. There was prevalence of male (75%), married (62.5%) with incomplete primary education (37.5%) and retirees (37.5%) patients. The age range stood between 41 and 78 years. It was verified that 50% of patients were underwent to esophagectomy, 75% were instructed in the preoperative, and of these 62.5% were instructed by the nurses. The highlights were the drains, catheters and tubes (15%) as contents of the guidance and the puppets (60%) as tools / resources for guidance recalled by patients in the postoperative. Patients were instructed about their surgery, recalled the information received and the resources used in pre-operative by nurses. Thus, is observed the importance of guidance adequate to the needs and questions of patients.
