O artigo busca identificar possíveis contribuições que o redescobrimento da unidade histórica entre liturgia e diaconia pode oferecer para a Igreja contemporânea identificar seu papel profético no atual contexto dos desafios sociais, econômicos, culturais e ambientais latino-americanos. Com esse objetivo o artigo busca, nos fundamentos bíblicos e teológicos da liturgia e da diaconia e nas celebrações da Igreja dos primeiros séculos, subsídios para pensar e articular celebrações e iniciativas, pautadas na unidade entre liturgia e diaconia no horizonte de desafios missionários atuais. A maioria das celebrações litúrgicas que a Igreja dos primeiros séculos conheceu foram espaços solidários, de formação e realização diaconal. A atualidade latino-americana, profundamente marcada pelo aumento de injustiças estruturais representam um chamado para a Igreja redescobrir a unidade histórica entre essas duas dimensões fundamentais de sua missão no mundo.

The article seeks to identify possible contributions that the rediscovery of historical unity between liturgy and diaconia can offer the contemporary Church to identify its prophetic role in the current context of Latin American social, economic, cultural and environmental challenges. With this aim in mind, the article searches for the biblical and theological foundations of the liturgy and the diaconia, and the celebrations of the Church of the first centuries, to think and articulate celebrations and initiatives based on the unity between the liturgy and the diaconia in the horizon of current missionary challenges. Most of the liturgical celebrations that the Church of the first centuries knew were spaces of solidarity, diaconal formation and realization. Latin American actuality, deeply marked by the increase of structural injustices, represents a call for the Church to rediscover the historical unity between these two fundamental dimensions of her mission in the world.
