Ao contemplar a vida de Jesus, cuja “atividade cotidiana está muito ligada à oração (...) até o fim da sua vida, já próximo da Paixão na última ceia, em sua agonia e na cruz, o divino Mestre nos ensina que a oração foi sempre a alma de seu ministério messiânico e do termo pascal de sua vida”.1O presente artigo tem como objetivo mostrar a Igreja, esposa que não cessa de entoar os cânticos que brotam do seu coração, como continuadora da obra redentora do seu esposo por meio da oração dos salmos. “Nela, Cristo está presente quando a assembleia está reunida, quando é proclamada a Palavra de Deus e quando a Igreja ora e salmodia”.2Dessa maneira, a Igreja, corpo sacerdotal de Cristo, à luz dos poemas orantes, gradativamente vai tomando consciência da sua missão. Por meio dela, “Cristo exerce a obra de redenção e perfeita glorificação de Deus no Espírito Santo”.3Por isso, a obra redentora de Cristo efetua-se em cada batizado que reza a Liturgia das Horas, bem como na sua santificação e vocação de sacerdote da oração sálmica.

By contemplating the life ofJesus, whose “The work of each day was closely bound up with his prayer (...) To the very end of his life, as his passion was approaching, at the last supper, in the agony in the garden, and on the cross, the divine teacher showed that prayer was the soulof his Messianic ministry and paschal death”. The Church as a wife who doesn’t cease to chant the songs that spring from her heart, continues her husband’s redemptive work through the prayer of the psalms. “There Christ himself is present -in the gathered community, in the proclamation of God’s word, “in the prayer and song of the Church’.” In this way, the Church, the priestly body of Christ, in the light of the praying poems, progressively becomes aware of her mission. Through it, “In the Holy Spirit Christ carries out through the Church ‘the task of redeeming humanity and giving perfect glory to God’”. For this reason, Christ's redemptive work is carried out in every baptized person who prays the Liturgy of the Hours, as well as his sanctification and vocation as apriest of the psalmic prayer.
