Crises climáticas mobilizam intensa cobertura midiática e televisiva. Este quadro não foi diferente com as enchentes do Rio Grande do Sul, que ganharam amplo espaço nos diversos meios de comunicação e na televisão. A partir da significação das enchentes do RS e da difusão midiática do assunto, o olhar deste estudo recai sobre o jornalismo televisivo, especificamente, sobre o Jornal Nacional, que contou com extensa cobertura da tragédia ocorrida em território gaúcho. O objetivo principal é verificar as principais perspectivas de enquadramento nas enchentes do Rio Grande do Sul pelas lentes do Jornal Nacional. Vamos dar atenção especial às fontes convocadas para a cobertura e para os temas das reportagens mobilizados no período das onze edições nas quais o âncora William Bonner apresentou diretamente do estado. Identificamos que a cobertura das enchentes foi o principal assunto do jornal durante duas semanas, dando ênfase às imagens de sofrimento dos atingidos e das iniciativas de comovidos em auxiliar no salvamento do estado, trazendo iconografia impactante e uma construção narrativa das reportagens que aponta para a esperança de reconstrução.
Climate crises mobilize intense media and television coverage. This was no different with the floods in Rio Grande do Sul, which had extensive coverage across various media outlets and on television. Based on the significance of the RS floods and the media dissemination of the issue, this study focuses on television journalism, specifically on Jornal Nacional, which provided extensive coverage of the tragedy in the southern state. The main goal is to examine the key framing perspectives of the Rio Grande do Sul floods through the lens of Jornal Nacional. Special attention will be given to the sources called upon for coverage and the themes of the reports featured during the eleven editions in which anchor William Bonner presented directly from the state. We identified that the flood coverage was the main topic of the news program for two weeks, emphasizing images of the victims' suffering and the initiatives of those moved to assist in saving the state. It brought impactful iconography and a narrative construction in the reports that points to hope for reconstruction.
