O sistema interamericano de proteção dos direitos humanos é um importante instrumento internacional de proteção à dignidade humana, criado após o término da Segunda Guerra Mundial. Gradativamente, empodera-se mediante diálogos que permitem o fortalecimento dos direitos humanos em um sistema multinível. A consolidação do sistema ocorreu com a instituição da Comissão e da Corte Interamericana de Direitos Humanos, detentora de mecanismos para apurar a responsabilidade internacional do Estado por violação de direitos humanos. Assim, o Sistema apresenta relevante impacto sobre a mudança de legislação e de políticas de direitos humanos, contribuindo para o processo de redemocratização do País, aprimorando e fortalecendo direitos e garantias fundamentais.
Resumo Inglês:
The inter-American system for the protection of human rights is an important international instrument for the protection of human dignity created after the end of World War II. Gradually it empowers through dialogues to allow the strengthening of human rights in a multilevel system. The consolidation of the system occurred with the creation of the Commission and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, which has mechanisms to determine the international responsibility of the state for human rights violations. Thus, the System has a significant impact on the change of legislation and human rights policies, contributing to the process of redemocratization of the country, improving and strengthening fundamental rights and guarantees.
