From the perspective of the literary nature of the Pentateuch narratives, through this synthetic empirical exercise, an analysis of the artistic features of the texts of the Hebrew Bible in contribution to the field of contemporary biblical exegesis is proposed. Since the times of ancient translations, studies of the interpretation of the Sacred Scriptures have been dedicated to providing, both to translators and to listeners-readers, access to the wisdom that emanates from the world narrated by the ancestral literary traditions of the people of God. Thus, recent advances in the field of biblical studies, especially the contributions made by the narrative analysis, have proved to be innovative interms of understanding the rhetoric that shapes the narrative discourse of the founding stories of the Judeo-Christian faith. The small literary unit that housesthe Lord’s first direct speech on Mount Sinai (Ex 19,4-6a), therefore, constitutes itself as a representation of how the narrator, in lending his voice tothe protagonist character, pragmatically brings his narrator closer to the deeper layers of meaning in the narrated story. The discursive strategy, therefore, in which the discursist evokes the past to reiterate the present and announce the future, is a con stituent of what is intended here to demonstrate permeating the syntax and verbal fabric of the Lord’s words to his people.
