O QUE É ÁSKESIS NA FILOSOFIA DE MICHEL FOUCAULT?

O presente artigo é resultado da comunicação apresentada no II Encontro de Filosofia da Bahia (EFIBA). Pretende-se estabelecer uma perspectiva filosófica acerca da prática da áskesis na filosofia, a partir da genealogia do sujeito de Michel Foucault, enquanto condição de possibilidade na criação de novos modos de existência. A áskesis, na cultura de si da filosofia antiga, consistia em práticas ou exercícios filosóficos no curso da existência do sujeito, tendo como princípio o cuidado de si (epiméleia heautoú). Neste sentido, o texto investiga as raízes da hermenêutica do sujeito na experiência da áskesis, o trabalho de si sobre si, no diálogo “Alcibíades I” de Platão, identificando a relação filosófica entre o cuidado de si e o conhecimento. E busca compreender o desaparecimento do cuidado de si no período moderno. Por fim, o texto vem expor a áskesis foucaultiana, repensando o cuidado de si, através das práticas de si na afirmação da filosofia como modo de vida para o sujeito constituir a si mesmo na ontologia do presente, por um exercício filosófico de livre criação de si, por uma estética do sujeito como obra de arte.

This article is the result of the communication presented at the II EFIBA. The text intends to establish a philosophical perspective on the practice of askesis in philosophy, from the genealogy of the subject of Michel Foucault, as a condition of possibility to create new modes of existence. The askesis, the culture of the self, at the ancient philosophy, consisted of practical or exercises in the course of the existence of the subject, based on the principle “care of the self” (epimeleia heautou). The text traces the roots of the hermeneutic of the subject in the experience of askesis, the dialogue "Alcibiades I" of Plato, identifying the philosophical relationship between the care of the self and knowledge. And seeks to understand the disappearance of the care of the self in the modern period. Finally, the text comes expose Foucault's askesis, rethinking the care of the self, through the practices of the self in the philosophy as way of life for the subject constitute itself in this ontology of the present, by a philosophical exercise of free creation itself, by an aesthetic of the subject as a work of art.
