Os destinos turísticos influenciam a forma como o turismo se apropria e é apropriado pela comunidade local em uma relação dialógica. Nos processos de turistificação, a comunidade reage de diferentes maneiras e apresenta atitudes distintas em relação ao turismo. O objetivo deste trabalho é investigar as impressões que os residentes de Paraty, localizada no estado do Rio de Janeiro, tem sobre o turismo. Para tal, realizou-se uma investigação sob a perspectiva teórico-empírica a respeito das atitudes de moradores em relação à atividade turística. Dados quantitativos sobre as opiniões de 402 residentes de Paraty, coletados por meio de questionários, permitem analisar os efeitos positivos e negativos do turismo na visão dos residentes. Os resultados indicam que do ponto de vista teórico, a relação entre turismo e residente tem sido trabalhada em inúmeros estudos internacionais e que os achados se aproximam daqueles encontrados na pesquisa realizada, destacando-se como principais efeitos tidos como positivos, a geração de emprego e renda, a manutenção e preservação do patrimônio, a proteção de recursos naturais e como adversos, o aumento da poluição, os problemas de trânsito e o avanço da prostituição.

Tourist destinations influence how tourism appropriates as well as how it is appropriated by the local community in a dialogical relationship. In tourism processes, the community reacts in different ways and has different attitudes towards tourism. The objective of this work is to investigate the impressions residents of Paraty, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, have about tourism. Therefore, an investigation was carried out under the theoretical-empirical perspective regarding to the residents' attitudes towards tourism. Quantitative data of 402 Paraty residents' opinions, collected through questionnaires, allows analyzing the positive and negative effects of tourism according to residents' views. From a theoretical point of view, the results indicate that the tourism/resident relationship has been worked in numerous international studies. The outcomes are close to those found in the present research, highlighting the main positive effects, such as the generation of employment and income, the maintenance and preservation of heritage, and natural resources. On the other hand, increased pollution, traffic problems, and the growth of prostitution are considered adverse effects.
