O presente artigo busca realizar uma análise sociojurídica sobre a influência das manifestações ocorridas em 30 de novembro de 1999 contra o encontro da OMC em Seattle para os movimentos antiglobalização e quais suas repercussões nos campos do Direito. Para tanto, será realizada uma apresentação das interpretações existentes em relação ao termo “globalização”, tanto a conceituação como os mecanismos jurídicos internacionais que a legitimam. Ademais, serão abordadas as características dos movimentos antiglobalização em um período anterior ao evento de Seattle, dos acontecimentos do dia 30 de novembro de 1999 e do momento posterior, percebendo a disseminação global dos mesmos. Por fim, serão levantadas as repercussões jurídicas que tais movimentos provocam, visando compreender qual a influência dentro dos mecanismos legais. A princípio, conclui-se que, além de um marco para reflexões jurídicas, o principal impacto dos movimentos sociais antiglobalização é a politização dos atores presentes na produção de normas econômicas internacionais. O método empregado é o dedutivo e a análise se dará por meio de uma revisão bibliográfica de aparatos legais, reportagens, artigos e livros específicos.
The following article intends to perform a socio-legal analysis of the influence of the protests that took place on November 30, 1999 against the WTO meeting in Seattle on the anti-globalization movements and their legal fields repercussions. Therefore, a presentation of the existing interpretations regarding the term “globalization” will be given, both the conceptualization and the international legal mechanisms that legitimize it. In addition, will be adressed the characteristics of the anti-globalization movements in a moment prior to the Seattle event, of the events of November 30, 1999 and of a posterior moment, realizing their global spread. Finally, the legal repercussions of such movements will be raised, aiming to understand the influence within legal mechanisms. Presumably, it is concluded that in addition to a framework for legal reflections, the main impact of anti-globalization movements is the politicization of actors present in the production of international economic norms. The method used is the deductive and the analysis will be through a literature review of legal apparatus, journalistic reports, articles and specific books.
