O trabalho reúne textos da Dramaturgia e da Filosofia de Gabriel Marcel, quando tratam da condição existencial de homens e mulheres que viveram os tempos sombrios do século XX. Seu objetivo é ressaltar tanto os aspectos aviltadores da consciência humana quanto os deveres do filósofo diante da realidade e suas aproximações concretas. Pretende caracterizar os modos como o drama e a reflexão permitem uma abordagem de preocupações, conceitos, visões e temas caros ao autor, entre os quais a distinção entre saberes absolutos e intuições filosóficas ou entre Ser e mistério. Visa tanto mostrar a atualidade do pensamento marceliano, como colocar em relevo as questões mais profundas da vivência humana. Mais ainda, apontar subsídios fenomenológicos que ajudem a desvelar o que está por traz do visível e do aparente, visando conduzir o leitor à consciência de si no mundo. Ademais, procura identificar as implicações sobre as configurações do processo de formação do Ser, que envolve o combate obstinado e sem tréguas contra o espírito de abstração e a favor do humano e sua dignidade, no âmbito de uma cultura globalizada e massificadora dos indivíduos, em suas formas de ser, viver e pensar.

The work brings together texts from Gabriel Marcel's Dramaturgy and Philosophy, when they deal with the existential condition of men and women who lived through the dark times of the twentieth century. Its aim is to emphasize both the demeaning aspects of human consciousness and the philosopher's duties to reality and their concrete approaches. It aims to characterize the ways in which drama and reflection allow an approach to concerns, concepts, visions and themes dear to the author, including the distinction between absolute knowledge and philosophical intuitions or between Being and mystery. It aims both to show the current of the marceliano thought, and to emphasize the deepest questions of the human experience. Moreover, point out phenomenological subsidies that help unveil what is behind the visible and the apparent, aiming to lead the reader to self-awareness in the world.
