O fenômeno Wikileaks e as redes de poder

O artigo trata das implicações políticas e comunicacionais do fenômeno Wikileaks. Partindo da perspectiva de Yochai Benkler sobre como as redes digitais alteraram o ecossistema comunicacional, aumentando o poder de disseminação de informações de indivíduos e organizações. Busca problematizar as categorias de poder comunicacional e poder na rede de Manuel Castells, bem como a relação entre poder e controle. São também visitadas as perspectivas de Morozov e Galloway sobre as possibilidades democráticas e restritivas da arquitetura distribuída da Internet. O artigo também identifica uma nova articulação do ativismo em rede, inspirada na cultura hacker e nas práticas colaborativas. Alerta que os ataques ao Wikileaks demonstram a gravidade e os perigos da gestão de infra-estruturas fundamentais para o cotidiano globalizado que estão sob o controle de estruturas privadas.

The article discusses the policy implications of the Wikileaks communication phenomenon. From the
perspective of Yochai Benkler on how digital networks have altered the ecosystem of communication,
increasing the capacity to disseminate information of individuals and organizations. It intends to problematize the categories of power communication and power network in Manuel Castells, as well as the
relationship between power and control. Are also showed the prospects of Morozov and Galloway on
the democratic and restrictive potential of the Internet distributed architeture. The article also identifies a new articulation of activism network, inspired by the hacker culture and the collaborative practices. It warns that Wikileaks attacks demonstrate the seriousness and dangers of of key infrastructure management under control of private structures.
