O FANTÁSTICO EM “O GATO PRETO” DE EDGAR ALLAN POE

A Literatura Fantástica é um gênero literário encantador e que merece um grande destaque no mundo literário. Assim, entendemos por literatura fantástica as narrativas que possuem traços de irracionalidade, ou seja, possuem a característica de criar relatos irreais, imaginários, que podem causar certa hesitação no leitor. Portanto, a Literatura Fantástica é muito além do imaginário, é mágico, inacreditável, encantador e até mesmo assustador. Tzvetan Todorov, em sua obra Introdução à literatura fantástica (2004), define o fantástico como sendo “a hesitação experimentada por um ser que só conhece as leis naturais, em face de um acontecimento aparentemente sobrenatural”. A partir de tal definição analisaremos o gênero fantástico na literatura de Edgar Allan Poe, precisamente no conto “O gato preto”. Este encontra-se no livro Antologia de contos extraordinários (2012). Por meio de embasamentos teóricos como o do já mencionado Todorov em sua obra Introdução à literatura fantástica (2004); mencionamos também alguns pensamentos de Doctorow e por fim, Ceserani com seus estudos em O fantástico (2006), procuramos estabelecer algumas particularidades do gênero fantástico, presentes no conto analisado, como a utilização do narrador em primeira pessoa e a hesitação provocada no leitor ante os eventos narrados. Além de mostrar como Edgar Allan Poe se vale desse gênero no conto abordado. Ao fim do estudo concluímos que em “O gato preto”, Poe trabalha o gênero fantástico de maneira excelente, fazendo com que o leitor possa encontrar facilmente as particularidades do gênero fantástico, acima já mencionadas, presentes no conto em questão.

Fantastic Literature is an enchanting literary genre that deserves a great prominence in the literary world. Thus, we understand by fantastic literature the narratives that have traces of irrationality, that is, they have the characteristic of creating unreal, imaginary reports that may cause some hesitation in the reader. Therefore, Fantastic Literature is far beyond the imaginary, it is magical, unbelievable, charming and even frightening. Tzvetan Todorov, in his Introduction to Fantastic Literature (2004), defines the fantastic as being "the hesitation experienced by a being who knows only the natural laws, in the face of an apparently supernatural event." From this definition we will analyze the fantastic genre in the literature of Edgar Allan Poe, precisely in the short story "The Black Cat". This is in the book Anthology of extraordinary tales (2012). By means of theoretical bases like the one already mentioned Todorov in his work Introduction to fantastic literature (2004); We also mention some of Doctorow's thoughts and, finally, Ceserani with his studies in O fantastic (2006), we try to establish some peculiarities of the fantastic genre present in the analyzed tale, such as the use of the narrator in first person and the hesitation provoked in the reader before the Events narrated. Besides showing how Edgar Allan Poe uses this genre in the story covered. At the end of the study we conclude that in "The Black Cat", Poe works the fantastic genre in an excellent way, so that the reader can easily find the aforementioned particularities of the fantastic genre present in the story in question.
