O presente estudo objetivou compreender a contribuição da Rede Federal de Educação Profissional, Científica e Tecnológica, para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa científica brasileira. Para isso, o estudo ancorou-se nos fundamentos da cientometria e bibliometria com base em análise de dados recuperados na coleção principal da Web of Science, da plataforma Nilo Peçanha e da plataforma Sucupira. Foi possível constatar que, após a implementação dos Institutos Federais, ocorreu um crescimento significativo do número de artigos científicos publicados pela Rede Federal, tendo se destacado, dentre as demais instituições, o Instituto Federal Goiano e, dentre as regiões brasileiras, o Sudeste, com relação ao quantitativo de publicações. Além disso, a área de pesquisa que obteve maior número de documentos publicados foi a Agricultura, e a existência da área de Educação e Pesquisa Educacional evidenciou a oferta de cursos de licenciatura, como previsto na legislação.
This study aimed to understand the contribution of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education, for the development of Brazilian scientific research. For this, the study was anchored in the fundamentals of scientometry and bibliometry based on analysis of data retrieved in the Nilo Peçanha and Sucupira platforms and in the main collection of the Web of Science. It was possible to verify, after the implementation of the Federal Institutes, there was an increased growth in the number of articles published by the Federal Network, having stood out, among the other institutions, the Federal Institute Goiano and, among the Brazilian regions, the Southeast, in relation to the number of publications. In addition, one area of research that obtained the largest number of published documents was Agriculture, and the existence of the area of Education and Educational Research evidenced an offer of undergraduate courses, as provided for in the legislation.
