O presente artigo objetiva traçar o processo de um pensamento sobre a “dança brasileira”, buscando, também, refletir sobre as intricadas relações entre esta e a produção artística do Brasil da primeira metade do século XX, bem como a política nacionalista vigente deste período. A contextualização histórica tem por proposição analisar a obra de arte diretamente inserida e articulada em seu meio social, portanto, em diálogo constante com este. Diante disto, busca-se discutir as distintas representações de identidade nacional por meio da dança, entendendo-as como construções sociais que trazem em essência os valores e ideais de grupos específicos.
This article aims to establish the process of a thought about Brazilian dance and associate it with the Brazilian artistic productions of the beginning of the 20th century and with the nationalist politics of this period. The historical context is directly inserted and linked with the work of art and therefore they are in a continuous dialogue. Thus, this work intends to discuss the distinctive representations of a national identity by means of the dance, considering them as social constructions with demonstrate in essence, value and ideals of a specific group.
