Este artigo apresenta a inserção de assistentes sociais em instituições filantrópicas religiosas, aponta reflexões sobre os rebatimentos da constituição de um Estado Neoliberal e a importância do posicionamento do profissional diante da realidade imposta. Compõe uma pesquisa em andamento cuja finalidade é analisar o impacto da intervenção do Serviço Social dentro do movimento de adequação das instituições com matriz religiosa católica às atuais legislações pertinentes a Assistência Social. São destacados aspectos da atuação observados no campo especificamente do assessoramento às instituições filantrópicas católicas, identificando desafios ao fazer profissional do processo atual de reordenamento das ações sociais em consonância com a Política Nacional de Assistência Social, e principalmente, às relações sociais e de trabalho no interior destes determinados espaços sócio-ocupacionais. Busca-se, por meio do diálogo dos autores que discutem as temáticas Trabalho, Serviço Social e Filantropia e juntamente com a análise das principais legislações refletir sobre as particularidades e especificamente fazer a interlocução com o campo empírico da pesquisa que é o assessoramento prestado pelo Serviço Social da Arquidiocese de São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro.

This article presents the insertion of social workers in religious philanthropic institutions, points out reflections on the re the constitution of a Neoliberal State and the importance of the professional positioning. It compiles an ongoing research whose purpose is to analyze the impact of the intervention of the Social Service within the movement of adaptation of the institutions with Catholic religious matrix to the current legislation pertinent to Social Assistance. Particular emphasis is placed on the specific field of advisory services to Catholic philanthropic institutions, identifying challenges in making the current process of reorganizing social actions in line with the National Social Assistance Policy and, above all, social and work relations in the interior of these occupational spaces. Through the dialogue of the authors who discuss the themes of Work, Social Work and Philanthropy, and together with the analysis of the main legislation, we seek to reflect on the particularities and specifically to make the interlocution with the empirical field of research, which is the advisory provided by the Social Work of the Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro.
