Resumo Inglês:

The aim of this paper is to evidence how a mobilization to public deliberation can unfold itself from emotional appeal derived from ficional stories. In showing alternative conceptions of homoerotic subjects, two Brazilian TV soap operas, A Próxima Vítima (Globo, 1995) and Torre de Babel (Globo, 1998-99), have challenged traditional discourses and hegemonic cultural meanings, motivating individuals and social groups to assume a political moral perspective on this matter and to present their voices in the mediatic scene. Such voices have promoted a network of points of view and arguments on several controversial questions concerning the homoerotic bond. Our effort is to investigate the manner through which the deliberation on certain polemic questions can approximate or retreat a plurality of life-experiences, in such a way that the social actors construct and re-elaborate common understandings, while arguing on their differences.
