O Ranking Times Higher Education possui uma nova proposta de metodologia para o ano de 2024, disponível até o momento para o contexto mundial. Por meio de simulações, utilizamos o Ranking Times Higher Education Latin American 2022 e a metodologia de 2024, com foco no indicador citações e no subindicador força de pesquisa, observando como a nova metodologia interferirá nas instituições da América Latina. O subindicador “Força de Pesquisa” baseia-se na métrica Field-Weighted Citation Impact 75 percentil, que propõe diminuir as diferenças das citações das áreas no indicador citações. O método é exploratório e quantitativo, utilizando dados das 100 primeiras instituições do ranking em questão e dados retirados da SciVal. Através do método utilizado concluímos que a nova metodologia favorece no posicionamento do indicador “Citação”, as instituições que possuem muitas publicações com grande quantidade de autores, e que a métrica utilizada não interfere no fator colaboração.
The Times Higher Education Ranking has a new methodology proposal for the year 2024, currently available for the global context. Through simulations, we will use the Times Higher Education Ranking Latin America 2022 and the 2024 methodology, focusing on the citation indicator and the research strength sub-indicator, observing how the new methodology will impact Latin American institutions. The Research Strength sub-indicator is based on the Field-Weighted Citation Impact 75% metric, which proposes to reduce the differences in citations of the areas in the citation indicator. The method is exploratory, quantitative and exploratory, using data from the top 100 institutions in the ranking in question and data taken from SciVal. Through the method used, we conclude that the new methodology favors the positioning of the indicator, citation of institutions that have many publications with a large number of authors, and that the metric used does not interfere with any collaboration factor.
