Além do Vocabulário Portuguez e Latino (1710-1728), Rafael Bluteau também é autor das Prosas Portuguezas (1727-1728), produzidas no contexto especÃfico do academismo literário de finais de seiscentos e princÃpios de setecentos. Nas Proza, o fundador da lexicografia portuguesa discute temas de natureza linguÃstica como a renovação vocabular, os estrangeirismos e o significado de algumas palavras. Caracterizadas pelo seu caráter apologético, as Prosas são fontes privilegiadas da historiografia linguÃstica do português, ao mesmo tempo que dão importantes achegas para a lexicologia histórica do Português.

Besides the "Vocabulario Portuguez e Latino" (1712-1728), Rafael Bluteau is also author of the "Prosas Portuguezas" (1727-1728), originated in the specific context of the literary academism of late 17th century and the early 18th century. In the "Prozas", the father of the Portuguese Lexicography debates subjects of linguistic nature such as lexical renewal, the foreign word and the meaning of certain words. Characterized by their eulogistic nature, the "Prosas" are both privileged sources of the linguistic historiography of Portuguese and important additions to the historic lexicology of the Portuguese Language.
