O jornal Folha d’Oeste foi o principal periódico a circular durante a Ditadura Militar, na região Oeste do Estado de Santa Catarina (Brasil), com amplo alcance na época. No presente artigo investiga-se, a partir da análise do discurso, como as crianças foram notícias nas edições do referido jornal publicadas entre 1966 e 1970. Na primeira parte do artigo foi explorado a materialidade da fonte na tentativa de verificar o contexto de sua produção. Na outra parte buscou-se conhecer como o discurso jornalístico contribuiu para a construção social das infâncias das diferentes camadas sociais.

The newspaper Folha d’Oeste was the main periodical, with a wide range of readers, circulating during the Military Dictatorship in the Western Region of Santa Catarina (Brazil). We investigate in this paper, from the perspective of Discourse Analysis, how children were news in the editions of the referred newspaper published from 1966 to 1970. In the first part of this work, it was investigated the materiality of the source in an attempt to find out the context of its production. In the second part, we sought to understand how the journalistic discourse contributed to a social construction of childhoods from different social classes
