No início do século XX a elite guarapuavana atribuía o seu isolamento em relação às outras cidades do Estado do Paraná devido à ausência de vias de transporte. O presente trabalho centra-se neste desejo da construção das vias férreas por uma parte da população. Desta forma, busca analisar pela ótica da notícia veiculada a um jornal do período – Correio do Oeste de 1930 a questão entre isolamento e a almejada modernidade. Compreende-se que nas primeiras décadas do século XX a ideia de progresso e modernidade circulava nos jornais da cidade de Guarapuava. Para compreensão de tal interesse é necessário possuir uma visão do que seja esse evento, neste sentido Berman (1986) aponta que a modernidade é um conjunto de experiências, dentre elas a questão de transformação e rompimento de barreiras. Tais empreendimentos, experiências e concepções sobre o desenvolvimento por meio do progresso podem ser observados na linguagem como prática social, ou seja, o discurso modernizador propagado pela imprensa reflete não apenas o isolamento, e a vontade de escoar a produção, mas especialmente reflete as relações de poder e dominação da elite do respectivo período. Para análise e compreensão dos eventos emprega-se o método espistemológico dialético crítico proposto por Fairclough (2001) e a outra perspectiva advém do campo da História que possibilita compreender a imprensa como instrumento de manipulação de interesses e de modificação da vida social. Através da interdisciplinaridade entre as Ciências citadas foi possível constatar que a particularidade do texto modelado segundo as experiências e concepções de mundo do redator mostram as relações entre a prática discursiva e social e com isso permeia os processos históricos que articulam e constituem o discurso de modernidade e isolamento.

In the early 20th century the elite guarapuavana attributed the your isolation from other cities in the sates of Paraná in the absence of transport routes. The present work focuses on this desire of the construction of railways for apart of the population. In this way, it seeks to examine the perspective of news conveyed to a newspaper of the period – Correio do Oeste of 1930 the question between isolation and the longed for modernity. It is understand able that in the first decades of the twentieth century the idea of progress and modernity circulated in city newspapers of Guarapuava. For understanding of such an interest must have a vision of what this event in this sense Berman (1986) points out that modernity is a set of experiments, among them the question of transformation and breaking barriers. Such developments experiences and conceptions on the development by means of progress can be observed in the language in the language as social practice, that is, the speech modernizer propagated by the press reflects not only the isolation, and the will to dispose of the production but, especially reflects the relationships of power and domination of the elite of the period. For analysis and understanding of the events used the dialectical critical espistemological method proposed by Fairclough (2001) and another perspective comes from the field of History that makes it possible to understand the media as an instrument of manipulation understanding the media as an instrument of manipulation and modification of social life. Through the interdisciplinary between science cited was found that the particularity of the text modeled according to the experiences and conceptions of world of the editor show the relationships among the discursive and social practice and with that it permeates the historical processes that articulate and they constitute the modernity speech and isolation
