Objetivo: Trata-se de um estudo de abordagem qualitativa, cujos objetivos foram descrever o tipo de apoio
social recebido pela mulher frente ao diagnóstico de câncer de mama e compreender o significado deste apoio
no vivido da mulher após o tratamento cirúrgico. Método: Foram entrevistadas 13 mulheres identificadas
em um hospital de referência para o tratamento de câncer de mama no RJ. Resultados/discussão: A análise
foi desenvolvida de acordo com o referencial de Lia Sanicola e deu-se mediante a construção de categorias a
partir do tipo de apoio social referido pelas mulheres, sendo estes caracterizados em: ajuda cotidiana: coisas,
ajuda na emergência, conselho e informação. Conclusão: Verificou-se que ao considerar o significado das
relações sociais para esta mulher, o profissional de saúde tem a possibilidade de exercer uma assistência que
favoreça o cuidado integral, ajudando na superação de limitações, no processo da readaptação à nova imagem
corporal e na melhora da autoestima.
Resumo Inglês:
Objective: Qualitative study that aimed to describe the network of support received by the woman facing
the diagnosis of breast cancer and analyze the kind of support offered after surgery. Methods:The theoretical
and methodological approach Sanicola, next to the 13 women treated at Cancer Hospital III of the National
Cancer Institute/RJ. Results: Allowed the development of the social network maps and the establishment of
analytical categories, which pointed to the kind of social support characterized in: daily help: things, emotional
/ affective support, help and advice in emergency / information. The results made it possible to analyze the types
of support for self-care and coping strategies. Discussion: The discussion indicates the importance of reference
to support the effectiveness of the actions of attending nursing. Conclusion: It was to consider the significance
of social relations has the possibility of exercising assistance that favors the overcoming of limitations, the readaptation
process to the new body image and improved self-esteem.
