Neste artigo, pretendemos investigar algumas representações do medo das secas no Nordeste e na comunidade rural Retiro, município de Barra de Santana, PB. Primeiramente, fizemos um percurso sobre diversas escritas do século XX, incluindo às literárias, tentando demonstrar que, ao lado dos cenários de seca que passaram a projetar uma imagem do Nordeste, emergiram também outras representações, incluindo-se o medo das secas. Depois, investigamos algumas representações desse medo da (des)ordem das secas na comunidade Retiro. Nesse cenário, tentamos compreender as práticas tradicionais de previsão do tempo vindouro, bem como a apropriação, pelos moradores, das previsões meteorológicas. Verificamos nessa escrita que os prognósticos do porvir estão inscritos em uma história das sensibilidades e do medo de condições climáticas adversas, especialmente às secas.

This article aims to investigate some representations of fear of droughts in
the Northeast and in rural community retreat, the Barra de Santana - PB. First we did a
course over several writings of the twentieth century, including the literary, trying to
show that alongside scenarios of drought that began to project an image of the
Northeast, other representations have also emerged, including the fear of drought. Then,
we investigate some representations that fear of (dis) order of droughts in the
community retreat. In this scenario, we try to understand the traditional practices of
weather to come, as well as ownership, the residents of the weather forecast. We verified this writing that the predictions of the future are enrolled in a history of
sensitivity and fear of adverse weather conditions, especially droughts
