This essay aims at analyzing the influence of the electronic games in the English language learning. This research is a case study with two students from a public high school. Both students acquired three skills through the electronic games: speaking, reading and writing. Thus, we aim at analyzing which internal and external factors enabled the students to be interested in the English language, besides analyzing the difference between the learning promoted by school and the one sought for by the student in extra-school environment. We applied a questionnaire to the students in order to verify how the English language learning occurred through the new technologies, because both could obtain better results regarding the oral and written practice in the foreign language. Besides that, we discussed the teaching and learning process of the English language, considering issues particularly regarding the Nacional Guidelines for Education (PCNs), teacher education and the students’ autonomy in the English language learning.
