Flowers of five species of Centrosema (DC.) Benth. were studied in their morphological and phenological aspects, in order to obtain evolutionary about them. The analyzed parameters were: a) constituent parts of the flower of each species; b) beginning of flowering and period of duration, in two different locations: Piracicaba-SP and Santa Maria-RS. The number of bracts and bracts, anthers' shape, shape and arrangement of ova, did not show variations in the analyzed parameters. These characters are probably being maintained by channel selection, thus ensuring similar characteristics that standardize individuals within the species to which they belong. Number of chalices, color of flowers, shape of pollen grains and number of flowers per inflorescence, maintained marked phenotypic plasticity, due to the specific functions that each character has within each species, to maintain their survival and perpetuation. The behavioral individuality of each species, in relation to the afforestation period, showed differences as to the sensitivity of the genotypes to the different environments to which they were submitted.
