Com o objetivo de discutir as peculiaridades semântico-pragmáticas da modalização
deôntica, o presente artigo sistematiza e reflete sobre uma série de investigações a
respeito desse fenômeno da linguagem em diferentes corpora. As investigações fazem
parte de um projeto que está sendo executado no Laboratório de Estudos LinguÃsticos
(LAEL) da UFPB, com recursos do CNPq, e que visa descrever a estrutura semânticoargumentativa
de diferentes gêneros discursivos, em especial dos gêneros formulaicos, e
sua aplicação no processo de produção textual. No entanto, neste artigo, muito mais de
natureza teórica do que aplicada, apresenta-se uma classificação para os modalizadores
deônticos e reflete-se sobre a aplicabilidade da classificação nos corpora investigados.
Além disso, trata-se a coocorrência da modalização deôntica com outros tipos de
modalização. O fenômeno da modalização é aqui tratado numa perspectiva semânticoargumentativa
e pragmática, que leva em conta a lÃngua em uso, a partir de autores
como Castilho e Castilho (2002), Koch (2002), Santos (2000), Nascimento (2005), entre
outros.
Aiming to discuss the semantic-pragmatic peculiarities of the deontic modalization, this
article systemizes and reflects about some investigations concerned to this language
phenomenon in different corpora. The investigations make part of a project which has
been executed in the Laboratory of Linguistic Studies (LLS) – UFPB, provided by
CNPq and aims at describing the semantic-argumentative structure of different
discursive genres, in special the formulaic ones, and school compositions. This research
is more related to a theoretical nature than an applied one. There is in this article a
classification for the deontic modalizers and a reflection on the aplicability of the
classification in the investigated corpora. Besides, it deals with the co-occurrence of the
deontic modalization with other types of modalization. The modalization phenomenon
is observed in this research in a semantic-argumentative and pragmatic perspective,
which considers the language in its usage context and is theretically based in Castilho
and Castilho (2002), Koch (2002), Santos (2000), Nascimento (2005), among others.
