O presente artigo centra-se no interesse de compreensão dos estratos de sentidos
aparentemente díspares na obra do escritor João Guimarães Rosa e, principalmente, no
seu livro de estréia Sagarana. Inicialmente, o nosso percurso investigativo realiza um
itinerário crítico em torno das abordagens crítico-interpretativas do objeto literário; para
em seguida, tentar compreender a estrutura polifônica da obra do escritor a partir do
cânon das narrativas populares.

ABSTRACT: This article focuses on the understanding of the layers of meaning in the
seemingly disparate work of João Guimarães Rosa, and especially in his debut book
Sagarana. Initially, our investigative journey carries out a critical journey around the
interpretative approaches of the literary object, in a way to try and understand the
polyphonic structure of the writer from the point of view of the canon of popular
narratives.
