Miguel Jorge em seu romance Pão cozido debaixo de brasa, de 1997, apresenta, através das personagens e da narrativa, as características pós-modernas que Linda Hutcheon discute em sua obra Poética do Pós-modernismo, de 1991. Esse artigo tem como objetivo, analisar tais aspectos na narrativa ficcional do autor, demonstrando os elementos da polifonia, da verossimilhança e da intertextualidade presentes na obra, a partir da relação entre história e ficção que permitem com que o autor transfigure fatos históricos em narrativa ficcional através da referencialidade histórica e da denúncia social emitida pelas vozes dos personagens, dois traços característicos da metaficção historiográfica.

Miguel Jorge, in his 1997 Pão cozido debaixo de brasa, presents, through the characters and the narrative, the postmodern characteristics that Linda Hutcheon discusses in her work A Poetics of Postmodernism: History, Theory, Fiction, of 1991. This article aims, analyze such aspects in the author's fictional narrative, demonstrating the elements of polyphony, verisimilitude and intertextuality present in the work, from the relationship between history and fiction that allow the author to transfigure historical facts into fictional narrative through historical referentiality and social denunciation emitted by the voices of the characters, two characteristic features of historiographical metafiction.
