O vocábulo ‘duplo’ é um adjetivo que remete a algo que possui uma realidade dupla, dois componentes, duas funções, dois sentidos, etc., Que é constituído de dois elementos, formado por duas ‘coisas’, iguais ou diferentes. Tendo por contrário à acepção ‘duplo’, aquilo que caracteriza-se por ser individual, homogêneo, impar, indiviso. O ‘duplo’ possui como característico a mescla, a fusão, a solda, entre outras. Neste trabalho, buscaremos demonstrar que em “Uma cruza”, de Franz Kafka, “O centauro” de Jorge Luís Borges e “Jacobo el mutante” de Mario Bellatin, não somente a temática, mas as categorias narrativas do narrador, personagem, espaço e a própria linguagem conformam uma metáfora do ‘duplo’. A metáfora, segundo Paul Ricouer em “Metáfora viva” (2000), é uma presença, um signo, um discurso, que recebe significados de algo que lhe é, em algum aspecto, semelhante. Por isso, segundo o teórico, ela possui uma força referencial já que aponta a algo que está subjacente. Defendemos no presente trabalho, que as citadas obras ficcionais possuam em comum um referente subjacente ao construírem uma metáfora do duplo: propor uma reflexão sobre a natureza humana. Natureza esta que antes de ser ‘una’, indivisa, homogênea, aproxima-se às reflexões de Friedrich Nietsche em “O nascimento da tragédia, ou helenismo e pessimismo” (1992), sobre o ser como alguém heterogêneo, mutável, constituído de duplicidades. he vocable “double” is an adjective that refers to something that holds a double reality, two components, two functions, two meanings, etc., which is made up of two elements, formed by two “things”, equal or different. Contrary to the meaning of “double”, what is characterized by being individual, homogeneous, odd, undivided. The “double” carries as characteristic the mixture, the fusion, the welding, amongst others. In this work, we will seek to demonstrate that in “A Crossbreed”, by Franz Kafka, “The Centaur” by Jorge Luís Borges and Mario Bellatin’s “Jacob the Mutant”, not simply the theme but the narrative categories of the narrator, character, space and language itself form a metaphor of the “double”.The metaphor, according to Paul Ricoeur in “The Rule of Metaphor” (2000), is a presence, a sign, a discourse that receives meanings from something that is, in some respect, similar to it. Therefore, according to the theorist, it has a referential force since it points to something that is underlying. We advocate in this study that the aforementioned fictional works have an underlying reference in common as they construct a metaphor of the double: to propose a reflection on human nature. It is this nature that, before being “one”, undivided, homogeneous, approaches the remarks of Friedrich Nietsche in “The Birth of Tragedy, or Hellenism and Pessimism” (1992), about the being as a heterogeneous, mutable person, composed of duplicities. The “self” multiplied.
