Este trabalho busca realizar uma discussão em torno da importância de trabalhar o conceito de espaço nas pesquisas educacionais, com a intenção é demonstrar quão relevante é espacializar os fenômenos a fim de entender os seus efeitos na produção do espaço. No anseio de restaurar sua centralidade, ao longo de sua história, a Igreja Católica traçou vários projetos na tentativa de viabilizar a manutenção do seu poder político, cultural e econômico. Entre suas ações podemos destacar a formação de intelectuais, cujo objetivo era, e ainda é, a defesa dos ideais desta instituição. A Igreja Católica é apreendida como um agente produtor do espaço que atua de maneira planejada, buscando maximizar sua atuação. Pretende-se, aqui, discutir as ações da Igreja Católica no Distrito de Messejana e a forma como essas obras se espacializam neste bairro localizado na porção sul de Fortaleza e cuja dinâmica é fortemente ligada à Capital.

This work searchs to carry through a quarrel around the importance to work the concept of space in the educational research, with the intention is to demonstrate how relevant spatialize the phenomena in order to understand its effect in the production of the space. In the yearning to restore its centrality, throughout its history, the Church Catholic traced some projects in the attempt to make possible the maintenance of its power politician, cultural and economic. Its action enters can detach the formation of intellectuals, whose objective age, and still is, the defense of the ideals of this institution. The Church Catholic is apprehended as a producing agent of the space that acts in planned way, searching to maximize its performance. It is intended to argue the educational actions of the Church Catholic in the District of Messejana and how these actions are spatialized in this neighborhood located in the southern portion of Fortaleza and whose dynamics is strongly linked to the Capital.
