Este trabalho estuda os desdobramentos da memória involuntária em Proust e Walter
Benjamin. Trata-se da memória que se apossa do indivÃduo arbitrariamente e que permite um
processo de reconstrução do passado no presente. Parte-se da questão de como a memória da
infância permeia perpetuamente a vida adulta e envolve-se com a arte, sobretudo em Proust e
Benjamin, assim como nas obras O pequeno prÃncipe de Antoine De Saint-Exupery e O
escolar de Van Gogh. O pressuposto de nossa investigação é a de que a memória involuntária
anula as distâncias temporais e supostamente cognitivas entre o passado e o presente.

This work studies the unfoldings of involuntary memory in Proust and Walter Benjamin. It is
the memory that is possessed arbitrarily of the individual allowing a process of reconstruction
of the past in the present. It starts with the question of how childhood memory permeates
perpetually into the adult life and becomes involved with the art, especially in Proust and
Benjamin, as well as in the works The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupery and The
Schoolboy of Van Gogh. The presupposition of our investigation is that the involuntary
memory overrides the temporal distances, supposedly cognitive, between past and present.
