Este artigo traz a experiência do coletivo e Festival Girls on X que ocorreu em Natal/RN em 2011 e 2012, reunindo grandes nomes da cena Riot Grrrlnacional como as bandas Anti-Corpos (SP) e Noskill (PB). Ao trazer uma retrospectiva da teoria feminista de Gayle Rubin (2017), é discutido o conceito de sexo/gênero cunhado pela autora para guiar a busca pelo fim da opressão às mulheres. Utilizando o termo “mulheres” de maneira estratégica, o artigo busca aplicar a teoria aqui resumida ao festival Girls on X, enfatizando sua relação com o movimento estadunidense Riot Grrrl. A metodologia passa por entrevistas qualitativascom as mulheres participantes do coletivo Girls on X, através de perguntas que tiveram como intenção recriar a atmosfera da cena musical existente na época. Para este fim, foram utilizados os conceitos de cenas musicais de William Straw (1991) e as discussões sobre silenciamento das mulheres subalternas de Gayatri Spivak (2010).

This essay highlights the experience of the collective and Festival Girls on X that took place in Natal/RN in the years of 2011 and 2012, ga - thering big names of Brazilian Riot Grrrl like Anti-Corpos (SP) and Noskill (PB). By offering a retrospective of Gayle Rubin’s (2017) femi - nist theory, it discusses the sex/gender concept created by the author in order to guide the search for an end to women’s oppression. It uses the term “women” in a strategic way, this essay aims to apply the theory summarized here to the Girls on X festival, emphasizing its relation to the American movement Riot Grrrl. The methodology involves quali - tative interviews with the women members of the Girls on X collective, through questions that intended to recreate the atmosphere of the music scene existing at the time. To this end, we use William Straw’s (1991) concept on music scenes and the discussions about the silencing of su - baltern women by Gayatri Spivak (2010).
