Resumo Inglês:

The study of manumission in
Bejucal and its jurisdiction – registering
and increase in its rhythm along the Xix
century, what evidenced ont the one hand,
that the owners did not have diffi culties in
replacing the manumitted slaves and on the
other hand that the servants did not stop
in their projects for freedom – revealed the
likeness and diversities with the free slaves
profi le of the emancipation processes in
the American pro-slavery societies. Thus
women prevailed, although not in ways so
apparent as in other regions of the continent,
the bom ones in the country, the children
and youth. In turn, the slaves whose occupational
destination was eminently rural:
plantations – of sugar and coffee an sites and
non – cultivated spots, being these last ones
where bigger opportunities were found to
trade products and to have money. This
environment linked to the production of
food for the internal consumption either in
the same region or for its commercialization
in the city of Havana, it conditioned the mobility
of those slaves and their contact with
experiences that then would reproduce in
their project for freedom.

su vez, los esclavos cuyo destino ocupacional
fue eminentemente rural: plantaciones – de
azúcar o café – y sitios o potreros, siendo en
estos últimos donde mayores oportunidades
encontraron para comercializar productos y
disponer de dinero. Dicho entorno, vinculado
