As

We work in this paper the theoretical discussion about the process of construction
of the voluntary identity against the piauiense childhood cancer developed by
the Women Network against the Cancer in Piauí and related to the process
of questioning the society by the State for the Volunteering, which allows us
an analysis concerning the process of re-appreciation of the volunteering in
Brazil in the last twenty years. This analysis had as an instrument empirical
twenty interviews with twenty volunteers of the institution. The relevance of
the analysis of social-political-cultural construction of the volunteering identity
against the piauiense childhood cancer mainly characterized by the volunteering
and local solidarity takes the necessary analysis of the issue of identity as a social
problem. Therefore, it takes the need of questioning the power relations involved
in the identity production. We believe the social identities are a social, political
and cultural creation permeated by relations of power even in the state power
like in the social micro-relations every day. The relations of power inherent the
process of re-valuation of volunteering are performed mainly by the State, the
nominating and positioning subject of individuals, that assume and invest in
positions of subject volunteers.
