O artigo discute as estratégias de resistências da tribo indígena Wassu Cocal sob a luz das contribuições de: i) Touraine (1994), para pensar as ações coletivas dos Wassu como movimento social; ii) Melucci (1996) e Gohn (1997), para problematizar a manutenção da identidade coletiva dessa tribo e; iii) Tilly (2008) e Tarrow (2009), para considerar o repertório, as performances, as estruturas de oportunidades políticas que envolveram/ envolvem as lutas do povo Wassu, habitantes da zona rural do município de Joaquim Gomes, Alagoas. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas à lideranças indígenas.
This article discusses the resistance strategies of the Wassu Cocal indigenous tribe in light of the contributions of: i) Touraine (1994), to think about the collective actions of the Wassu as a social movement; ii) Melucci (1996) and Gohn (1997), to problematize the maintenance of the collective identity of this tribe and; iii) Tilly (2008) and Tarrow (2009), to consider the repertoire, the performances, the structures of political opportunities that involved / involve the struggles of the Wassu people, inhabitants of the rural zone of the municipality of Joaquim Gomes, Alagoas.
