The article aims to develop an analysis about the universality of human rights, focusing on the Cold War and on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The work is based on the theoretical framework of the Cold War, on the international paradigms studied by Martin Wight, and human rights and public international law. The article concludes that cultural differences and economic interests of each country collide, even today, in the effectiveness of human rights which are called universal.
