O presente estudo tem o intuito de debater a influência do quadro humorístico “Umbelinda”, suposta assistente social voluntária do Programa Zorra Total da Rede Globo, no entendimento do Serviço Social e de sua atuação. O artigo ainda tem como objetivo avaliar o caráter manipulador que a mídia exerce sobre os conteúdos televisivos e mostrar a existência da influência midiática do quadro humorístico “Umbelinda”. A pesquisa realizada neste trabalho tratou-se de um estudo descritivo e de caráter qualitativo; tendo como instrumento de pesquisa livros, artigos, revistas, jornais, e o conteúdo televisivo relacionado ao assunto, cuja técnica de estudo dos dados foi a análise de conteúdo. Como resultado, constata-se, que o quadro humorístico, ora analisado, proporciona um efeito negativo sobre a percepção da profissão de assistente social e dos serviços sociais prestados. Conclui-se, que é imprescindível empenhar esforços voltados a compreensão das pessoas no diz respeito à verdadeira atuação do assistente social e das políticas sociais públicas.

The present study aims to discuss the influence of the humorous "Umbelinda", supposed voluntary social worker of the Zorra Total Program of Rede Globo, in the understanding of Social Service and its performance. The article also aims to evaluate the manipulative character of the media on TV content and to show the existence of the media influence of the comedy "Umbelinda". The research carried out in this work was a descriptive and qualitative study; Having as a research tool books, articles, magazines, newspapers, and television content related to the subject, whose technique of data study was content analysis. As a result, it can be seen that the humorous picture analyzed here has a negative effect on the perception of the social worker profession and the social services provided. It is concluded that it is essential to make efforts aimed at understanding the people regarding the true role of the social worker and public social policies.
