O planeamento é fundamental para assegurar a competitividade e sustentabilidade dos destinos turÃsticos. Entretanto, os benefÃcios do planeamento nos campos ambiental, sócio-económico e cultural somente são alcançados quando o processo de planeamento é implementado de forma adequada. Para tanto, há a necessidade de compreender a estrutura organizacional do Planeamento TurÃstico, assim como identificar e analisar as funções inerentes ao papel do planeador, o que constitui o principal objectivo deste artigo. Trata-se de uma abordagem teórica que termina por enumerar as principais funções do planeador turÃstico.

Planning is fundamental for assure tourism destinations competitiveness and sustainability. However, the planning benefits in the natural, social, economic and cultural environment only are achieved when planning is implemented of adequate form. So, there is the need of understand the organizational structure of the Tourism Planning, as well as identify and analyze the inherent functions of the planner, what consist the aim of this article. This theoretical approach enumerates the most important functions of the tourism planner.
