As línguas bantu apresentam estruturas morfológicas diversas, as principais convenções terminológicas relativas à segmentação morfológica hierarquizada de um verbo, através dos seguintes elementos: palavra, tema, base, radical expandido, raiz simples. Contrariamente à norma, alguns pouquíssimos radicais verbais, com a estrutura fonética -(CV)CV, não são seguidos por elemento final. Portanto, são, no mesmo tempo, radicais/raízes, bases e temas. Este artigo busca entender como funcionam, na prática, as estruturas morfológicas dos Verbos proto-bantus. A base do trabalho foi a pesquisa de campo e a entrevista com falantes das línguas abordadas.

Bantu languages have different morphological structures, the main terminological conventions related to the hierarchical morphological segmentation of a verb, through the following elements: word, theme, base, expanded radical, simple root. Contrary to the norm, very few verbal radicals, with the phonetic structure – (CV) CV, are not followed by a final element. Therefore, they are, at the same time, radicals / roots, bases and themes. This article seeks to understand how the proto-Bantus verbs’ morphological structures work in practice. The basis of the work was field research and an interview with speakers of the languages covered.
